유네스코 석좌 수행기관인 아태여성정보통신원(APWINC)은 한국과 아시아·태평양 지역 그리고 중남미
여성들의 디지털 역량강화에 기여하기 위한 목적으로 1996년 설립된 숙명여자대학교 부설기관입니다.
현재 아태여성정보통신원은 아태지역뿐만 아니라 범세계적으로 활동하고 있으며, 국제 NGO, 정부 간 기구
(ASEAN, APEC, ECLAC), 국제기구(UNESCO, UNESCAP, UNDP, IDB, World Bank, WIPO) 등과
공동으로 국제개발협력 사업 및 연구를 진행하고 있습니다.
현재 본원은 아세안 여성 소상공인의 디지털 경제참여 향상을 목적으로 한-아세안 협력 기금 사업을
수행 중입니다. 본 사업은 2022년부터 2026년까지 약 67억 원이 투입되며, 한국과 아세안 국가들의
유대강화와 더불어 아세안 역내 여성 소상공인 및 예비 소상공인 4,002명 가량의 디지털 역량강화 및
디지털 경제 참여 향상에 주력하고 있습니다.
또한 본원은 유네스코 유니트윈(University Twinning and Networking, UNITWIN) 사업 수행기관으로서
디지털 및 리더십 교육을 통한 여성 역량강화를 주제로 고등교육기관 간의 지식 공유 및 협력을 주도하고 있습니다.
현재 9개국 18개 대학과 네트워크를 이루어 다양한 활동을 진행하고 있습니다.
앞으로도 아태여성정보통신원은 젠더 임파워먼트 & 디지털 혁신 및 역량강화와 관련된 연구, 학술활동,
교육훈련 및 국내·외 네트워크 구축 등을 통하여 글로벌 시대를 선도하는 국제개발협력 전문 연구기관으로

The second Project Working Committee meeting of the ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Project on “Enhancing Digital Economy Participation for ASEAN Women MSMEs” was hosted by Asia Pacific Women’s Information Network Center
On 19th September 2023 (Thu), the Asia Pacific Women’s Information Network Center (APWINC), appointed as the UNESCO Chair in Communication Technology for Women, successfully held the ‘second Project Working Committee meeting’ of the ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Project on "Enhancing Digital Economy Participation for ASEAN Women Micro-, Small-, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs)" through a virtual conference. Sookmyung Women's University's APWIC has officially received approval for the project "Enhancing Digital Economic Participation of ASEAN Women Entrepreneurs" from the ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Fund (AKCF) in 2022. The Project Working Committee, established in September 2022, for this project is composed of consultants for the ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Project, 14 local implementing institutions from the ten ASEAN Member States, and APWINC. The APWINC initiated the project in January 2022 and launched the R&D team in May. Afterward, in cooperation with the ASEAN Coordinating Committee on MSMEs (ACCMSME), 14 partner implementing institutions of AMS were selected, and the Project Working Committee was finally formed in September of this year. The Project Working Committee was established to manage the project effectively, which consists of 12 members of the ASEAN-Korea R&D team, 42 project managers from 14 local implementing institutions in 10 ASEAN countries, and the APWINC. Bringing together approximately 50 stakeholders, including local consultants and representatives from implementing institutions across Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, the meeting was convened with the objective of facilitating the exchange of vital updates and future plans among participants to enhance the efficient execution of the Project. Within the meeting, a thorough review of the major accomplishments for 2022-2023 in the ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Project was conducted, alongside the presentation of comprehensive updates on the advancement and forthcoming objectives of local implementing institutions. A key component of the fourth quarter is set to enroll 4,002 participants for localized training in e-business and digital skills, particularly targeting potential ASEAN women entrepreneurs, while also focusing on the creation of tailored educational materials for each country. Meanwhile, with the goal of guaranteeing the efficient and prosperous execution of the ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Project, APWIC has laid out plans to convene the annual meeting of the Steering Committee in Korea in November.

숙명여대 아태여성정보통신원, “ASEAN 여성 소상공인의 디지털 경제참여 향상“ 한-아세안 협력사업 실무위원회 연례회의 개최
우리대학 유네스코 석좌수행기관인 아태여성정보통신원(원장 조정인 교수)이 한-아세안 협력사업의 일환으로, 지난 9월 19일(목) 제2회 한-아세안 협력사업 실무위원회 연례회의를 개최했다. 숙명여대 아태여성정보통신원은 한-아세안 협력기금(ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Fund, AKCF)으로부터 ”ASEAN 여성 소상공인 디지털 경제참여 향상“ 사업을 공식적으로 승인 받아, 2022년부터 이를 수행중에 있다. 본 사업 실무위원회는 한-아세안 협력사업 컨설턴트, 아세안 10개국 14개 현지 파트너기관 그리고 아태여성정보통신원으로 구성되었으며, 2022년 9월에 출범하였다. 금번 실무위원회의에는 라오스, 말레이시아, 미얀마, 베트남, 브루나이, 싱가포르, 인도네시아, 캄보디아, 태국, 필리핀 등 10개국 현지 컨설턴트와 현지 파트너기관 담당자를 비롯하여 50여명의 사업 관계자가 참여하였으며, 회의는 한-아세안 협력사업의 효과적인 운영 및 촉진을 위해, 이해관계자 간의 핵심 업데이트 및 계획을 공유하는 목적으로 실시되었다. 이번 회의에서는 한-아세안 협력사업의 2022-2023년 주요 성과를 회고하고, 현지 파트너기관의 사업 진행 상황 및 향후 계획에 대한 상세한 업데이트가 이루어졌다. 2023년 4분기에 계획된 과업으로는 아세안 (예비)여성 소상공인 대상 e-비즈니스 및 디지털 분야 현지교육 참가자 4,002명 모집 및 국가별 교육 자료의 개발이 진행될 예정이다. 한편, 아태여성정보통신원은 한-아세안 협력사업의 효율적이고 성공적인 운영을 보장하고, 이를 향상시키기 위해 오는 11월 한국에서 ‘한-아세안 협력사업 운영위원회 연례회의’를 개최 할 계획이다.

The Asia Pacific Women’s Information Network Center concludes a ‘Training of Trainer on E-Business and Digital Skills for ASEAN women MSMEs’ for 200 ASEAN trainers
Seoul, South Korea, 19 July 2023 - Sookmyung Women's University (President, Yun-Keum Chang) successfully hosted a training program by inviting trainers responsible for the local e-Business and Digital Skills training for women entrepreneurs in the ASEAN member states. From July 3rd (Monday) to July 12th (Wednesday), Asia Pacific Women’s Information Network Center (APWINC), a UNESCO chair organization in Communication Technology for Women, at Sookmyung Women's University, held the 'Training of Trainers on E-Business and Digital Skills for ASEAN Women MSMEs.' The 10-day training took place at the Hanra Hall in Seoul Dragon City, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. This training is a part of the ASEAN-Korea Cooperation Project on ‘Enhancing Digital Economy for ASEAN Women MSMEs' project implemented by Asia Pacific Women’s Information Network Center at Sookmyung Women’s University. The training had the participation of 200 experts in e-business and digital fields from ASEAN countries, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the ASEAN Secretariat. These experts will function as trainers, imparting digital economic participation skills to 4,002 women micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) across the ASEAN region. The Training of Trainers aims to equip them with a wide range of e-business content and deliver customized education tailored to the specific circumstances of each country. President Yun-keum Chang stated, "We will lead this ASEAN-Korea Cooperation Fund project's Training of Trainers successfully, leveraging Sookmyung Women’s University’s advantage of nurturing women entrepreneurs," and added, "By strengthening the digital skills necessary for successful e-business, we are confident that it will make a lasting impact on the lives of women entrepreneurs with Micro-, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) across the region" The executive director of APWINC, Jung-in Jo, highlighted the essential importance of mentors in supporting numerous entrepreneurial women in the ASEAN region to effectively embrace digital transformation. She expressed, “If ASEAN women MSMEs become pioneers of digital innovation, and it will have significant ripple effects on the overall ASEAN economy.” On the initial day of the training, a panel discussion took place featuring Sun-Yong Lee, CEO of Perfitt, and Rae-Hyun Sung, CEO of Ludens Partners, both an accomplished female entrepreneur from respectively the AI tech and robotic sector. They openly shared their entrepreneurial journeys, offering valuable advice to participants about persevering despite gender biases and encouraging them to embrace their roles as inspirations to oneself. A participant from Thailand said, "It was a precious opportunity to contemplate ways to apply the competitive experiences of successful Korean female entrepreneurs to ASEAN." According to a representative from Asia Pacific Women’s Information Network Center at Sookmyung Women’s University, "Through this training, participants will gain essential skills needed in the digital economy era, becoming key players who will lead success in the e-business sector in the future." The representative also expressed high expectations for this training to aid the digital economic participation of ASEAN women MSMEs and achieve sustainable growth. After completing the training, participants had the opportunity to visit the National Museum of Korea and Sookmyung Women's University, enhancing mutual understanding of Korean culture and strengthening cooperation amongst participants and APWINC. Meanwhile, in January 2022, Asia Pacific Women’s Information Network Center at Sookmyung Women’s University was officially approved as the executing agency for the “Enhancing Digital Economy Participation for ASEAN Women Micro-, Small-, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) Project,” or “IDEAS Project,” a 5-year project funded by the ASEAN-Korea Cooperation Fund (AKCF). This project, which will be funded with a total of 6.7 billion Korean won until 2026, is expected to benefit 14 partner institutions within ASEAN, 255 e-business experts, and 4,002 women who own micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the ASEAN region."
