The Asia Pacific Women's Information Network Center (APWINC), a UNESCO chair organization,
affiliate of Sookmyung Women's University established in 1996 to promote gender equality in the
digital sphere and improve the digital capacity of women in South Korea, the Asia Pacific region,
and Central America.

Today, the APWINC serves as a leading hub not only in the Asia Pacific region but also globally,
conducting international development cooperation projects and research in collaboration with
international NGOs intergovernmental organizations (ASEAN, APEC, ECLAC),
and international organizations (UNESCO, UNESCAP, UNDP, IDB, World Bank, WIPO).

The APWINC was officially approved as the executing agency for the “Enhancing Digital Economy
Participation for ASEAN Women Micro-, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) Project,”
or “IDEAS Project,” a five-year project, funded by the ASEAN-Korea Cooperation Fund (AKCF).
This project, which will be funded with a total of 6.7 billion Korean won until 2026, is expected
to benefit 14 partner institutions within ASEAN; 255 e-business experts; and 4,002 women
who own MSMEs in the ASEAN region.

The APWINC is a host institution/project implementing organization of
UNESCO UNITWIN (University Twinning and Networking), leading knowledge sharing and
collaboration among higher education institutions under the theme of
women's empowerment through digital and leadership education.

Currently, we are networking with 18 universities in 9 countries and conducting various activities.
The APWINC will continue to play our role as a leading international development cooperation research
institute in the global era through research, academic activities, education, and training.
We will establish domestic and international networks related to gender empowerment,
digital transformation, and capacity building.

We look forward to your continued interest and cooperation.
