Sookmyung Women's University (APWINC) held '2016 Seminar on Enhancing the Capacity of APEC Women's Enterprises Utilizing Smart Technologies' at the 'APEC Women and Economy Forum' held in Lima, Peru on the 28th of last month.

The APEC Women's Economic Conference was created in 1989 to promote economic balance and stable growth in the Asia-Pacific region.

The meeting was attended by more than 500 people including government representatives from 21 member countries of the Asia-Pacific region including the United States, Australia, China, Indonesia and Singapore, related international organizations and women businessmen.

The main agenda of this year was 'Breaking Barriers to Economic Integration of Women in the Global Market'.

The seminar will be attended by a variety of government and business academics, including Minister of Women and Family Kang Eun-hee, Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Per Jung Geun-Ho, Marcela Huaita, Minister of Women's Vulnerable Population in Peru, Fernando Bolanos Galdos Peruvian female vulnerable population. And  discussions on ways to contribute to economic growth through the use of smart technology (innovative information and communication technology) of women and how to increase women's economic participation were held.

The main contents of the seminar are sharing of trends and visions of the latest smart technologies (3D printing, big data, object internet, etc.) applicable to women's business activities, introduction of IT convergence and market forecast by industry, And the direction of development and development for technology application. And by strengthening the global competitiveness of Korean women companies and sharing best practices in Korea, they have elevated Korea's status as a leading smart technology company.

APWINC has held seminars every year since 2005 at the APEC Women's Economic Conference and has been making efforts to encourage women's participation in the digital economy in the APEC region.

APWINC President Kim Myung-hee emphasized the importance of fostering female talents in the ICT field because of the increasing opportunities for women to demonstrate their capabilities in the era of creative economies that require creative ideas and innovative technologies. and said "We will actively work to create conditions for APEC women's active participation in economic activities through global networking."
