[Beritas Alpha = Reporter Kim Ha-yeon] Sookmyung Women's University's APWINC held an "Invitation Training for Capacity Development for Women's Human Resources Development in Cambodia" from 19th to 28th as part of the first Gyeonggi Province International Development Cooperation Project.

A total of 10 high-level government officials delegates from various ministries, including Cambodia's secretary-general of the Women's National Committee, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and the Ministry of Gender Equality, Labor, Industry and Handicraft.

During the training course, the Cambodian training group shared Korea's women's human resources development policy, policies to support employment and start-ups, and success stories and they visited the Gyeonggi provincial government and a women's management company for a meeting. They also shared the status and operation cases of the Gyeonggi Women's Performance Development Center and met with actual users of the center.

According to APWINC, Cambodia is a young country in its 20s and 30s that makes up more than 70 percent of the population, and women, in particular, have the full support of the royal family and other countries as a pan-disciplinary issue. Women-related issues account for a high percentage of government policies, with the Women's National Committee suggesting policies directly to the prime minister and queen.

Director, Kim myung-hee of APWINC said that "Since the Cambodian training group consists of senior officials from various ministries, including the Women`s National Committee, an organization under the prime minister, it will not only lead to actual policy reflection and implementation, but will also serve as a great opportunity for the establishment of close and lasting cooperative relations between Korea and Cambodia."

The APWINC of Sookmyung Women's University was established in 1996 to promote the development of information and culture of women in the Asia-Pacific region and improve their digital economic capabilities. It was designated as a UNESCO Chair performance agency for communication technology for women in 1998 and has carried out projects such as research on the Gender & ICT and cultural content industries, development of contents, international academic conferences, education training and establishment of global networks in cooperation with governments, businesses, international organizations and international NGOs at home and abroad.
