Sookmyung Women's University (APWINC) held a seminar on 'Capacity Building for APEC Women in 2016 at the '2016 APEC Women and Economy Forum' in Lima, Peru.
APWINC has been holding a seminar every year since 2005 at the APEC Women's Economic Conference.
The APEC Women's Economic Conference was established in 1989 to promote economic balance and stable growth in the Asia-Pacific region.
The annual meeting will be attended by more than 500 people including government representatives from 21 member countries of the Asia-Pacific region, related international organizations, and women businessmen.
This year's seminar, entitled "Breaking Barriers to Economic Integration of Women in the Global Market," was attended by Minister of Women and Family Kang Eun-hee, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Peru Jang Keun-Ho, Marcela Huaita, Peruvian female vulnerable population minister, Fernando Bolanos Galdos Peruvian Vice Minister for Women's Vulnerable Population and many others from government and business academia.
They shared trends and visions of the latest smart technologies (3D printing, big data, object internet, etc.) applicable to women's business activities, introduced IT convergence and market forecasts for each industry, shared industry-specific success model and case through IT convergence, and discussed the establishment of infrastructure for smart technology application and development direction at this seminar
APWINC President Kim Myung-hee said, "There is an increasing chance that women's capabilities can be demonstrated in the era of creative economy in which creative ideas and innovative technologies are required." and "We will continue to hold seminars and will work to create conditions for APEC women's participation in economic activities through global networking, as the importance of cultivating female talents in the ICT field will become even greater."
