On 19th September 2023 (Thu), the Asia Pacific Women’s Information Network Center (APWINC), appointed as the UNESCO Chair in Communication Technology for Women, successfully held the ‘Second Project Working Committee meeting’ of the ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Project on "Enhancing Digital Economy Participation for ASEAN Women Micro-, Small-, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs)" through a virtual conference.

Sookmyung Women's University's APWIC has officially received approval for the project "Enhancing Digital Economic Participation of ASEAN Women Entrepreneurs" from the ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Fund (AKCF) in 2022.

The Project Working Committee, established in September 2022, for this project is composed of consultants for the ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Project, 14 local implementing institutions from the ten ASEAN Member States, and APWINC.

The APWINC initiated the project in January 2022 and launched the R&D team in May. Afterward, in cooperation with the ASEAN Coordinating Committee on MSMEs (ACCMSME), 14 partner implementing institutions of AMS were selected, and the Project Working Committee was finally formed in September of this year.

Bringing together approximately 50 stakeholders, including local consultants and representatives from implementing institutions across Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, the meeting was convened with the objective of facilitating the exchange of vital updates and future plans among participants to enhance the efficient execution of the Project.

Within the meeting, a thorough review of the major accomplishments for 2022-2023 in the ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Project was conducted, alongside the presentation of comprehensive updates on the advancement and forthcoming objectives of local implementing institutions. A key component of the fourth quarter is set to enroll 4,002 participants for localized training in e-business and digital skills, particularly targeting potential ASEAN women entrepreneurs, while also focusing on the creation of tailored educational materials for each country.

Meanwhile, with the goal of guaranteeing the efficient and prosperous execution of the ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Project, APWIC has laid out plans to convene the annual meeting of the Steering Committee in Korea in November.
