KOICA Training Program - Gender Equality Policy (Afghanistan)
Asia Pacific Women’s Information Network Center (APWINC) at Sookmyung Women’s University, Republic of Korea has successfully finished the first year of its 3-year “Gender Equality Policy (Afghanistan)” training program which is hosted by Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
The training program was held for two weeks, from November 8th to November 21st, 2015. In this training program, 14 Afghan government officials from the Ministry of Women Affairs and Chief Executive Office were invited.
Throughout the program, the participants were able to have better understanding of gender equality and learn Korea’s efforts on achieving gender equality. By bringing up topics such as outstanding gender issues and constraints in Afghanistan, participants were given opportunities to discuss and analyze on threats and obstacles that may hinder from applying gender equality policies. Based on such thorough analysis, the participants developed fruitful action plans which can be expected to be a milestone in empowering women’s status in Afghanistan.
